Sales Manager

Job Description:

Lead, direct, administer and coordinate the Sales and Marketing functions and policies of Reliance Gear (manufacturing technical gear product lines). Related functions in quoting, planning, market research, advertising, promotion, application engineering. Evaluate the effectiveness of sales and marketing. Implement actions to increase and promote sales, revenues, margins, and profits. Develop sales forecasts and quotas, advertising programs and sales incentives, sales methods. Lead and conduct all technical quoting for business-to-business sale of high-tech gears.

Responsibilities/daily tasks:

  • Plan, monitor, meet and maintain company-wide targeted sales objectives in line with management and parent company goals.
  • Provide financial reports including forecasting, budgets, and quarterly reporting to maximize company-wide communication, efficiency, margins, and profitability.
  • Implement strategic plans for the sales organization to maximize sales potential, maintain legacy customers and acquire and develop new customer accounts,
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to understand the processes of new product development to meet goals and outline growth objectives.
  • Monitor the sales schedules and forecasts throughout the month to meet the monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Develop short-, mid- and long-term sales and marketing strategies.
  • Develop different selling strategies, depending on the target market.
  • Establish guidelines and goals for participation in exhibitions, seminars, and trade fairs.
  • Plan and implement the process of hiring sales personnel.
  • Work closely with the Management Team to keep abreast of and communicate the sales performance, market trends, industry developments and competitor activity.
  • Meet with customers and clients to establish long term relationships.
  • Negotiate and close all important deals with clients.
  • Develop presentation material for the selling process.
  • Analyze overall revenue budget performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and develop a computerized customer and prospect database.
  • Plan and carry out all sales and marketing activities to agreed budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales.
  • Promoting new business in region
  • Following up on sales leads
  • Quoting new business or supporting quoting and following up on quotes to develop strong margins.
  • Provide up to date call reports.
  • Provide up to date activity reports.
  • Provide up to date marketing information.
  • Work with other regional sales for the development of company-wide sales
  • Work with customers and co-workers to benefit the growth and success of the company’s overall success within your region, nationally and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent in depth mechanical skills.
  • Must have experience with older models of CNC machines. 
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills needed.
  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well with others, be an excellent team player.
  • Technical school degree or extensive prior experience preferred.
  • Extensive mechanical experience with heavy industrial manufacturing machinery, manual gear cutter, CNC, lathes, mills, etc. needed.

  • Compensation will be competitive and will depend upon expertise and experience.
